Ari Lennox

Courtney Shanade Salter, better popularly known as Ari Lennox, is an American artist and performer from Washington, D.C., who was the first woman to be signed to J. Cole's Dreamville Records record label. Her debut EP Pho on October 21, 2016 was released via Dreamville Records. It was at this point that she began to get recognition. Shea Butter Baby, her debut studio album was released 7 May 2019. Ari Lennox started uploading her music via the internet in 2012 as she released her debut mixtape, Five Finger Discount and debut EP Ariography in 2013. In 2014, she released new music through the internet including Bound. The song was included in Omen's Elephant Eyes as well as from Sweat It Out, on July 21, 2015. Later that year her songs were circulating among the Dreamville team because J. Cole wanted her to join him in creating some possible references for Rihanna. In December, it was revealed 8that she was signed with Dreamville Records. Backseat was a track which she co-wrote along with Cozz to record her Revenge of the Dreamers II collaboration album. She dropped Pho, her debut EP, on October 21 in 2016. Ari Lennox later appeared on J. Cole's hit song Change and performed as an opening act for the 4 Your Eyez Only Tour in 2017. In 2018 she went on to appear on two songs with her labelmates EarthGang in Nothing but the Best and Bas on Icarus. On July 16, 2018, Ari Lennox released the first single, Whipped Cream from her debut album Shea Butter Baby with an accompanied music video on the 5th of September. On the 9th of November she released two other singles, 40 Shades of Choke and Grampa. On the 13th of November she came out with two additional singles, the No One and Pedigree. Shea Butter Baby was released as her first single on February 26, 2019, for the album Creed II. Shea Butter Baby was featured along with Cole as part of The Creed II sound track on the 16th of November. The music video debuted on the 20th of February for the track. Within the first week, it had over 3,000,000 views. The singer was a supporting artist for 6LACK in their From East Atlanta With Love Tour in December, 2018.
